World-class teaching and world-leading research
As a postgraduate student at UCLan, you will experience high-quality, research-informed teaching by dedicated and well-qualified academic staff, often experienced industry or professional practitioners themselves.  UCLan offers a truly international experience – we have students and researchers from over 120 countries and over 125 partnerships with other institutions across the globe.

Research underpins everything we do at UCLan and informs the curriculum of our postgraduate programmes. Our teaching teams include professors and researchers who are leaders in their fields.  We also offer opportunities for postgraduate research in a wide range of subject areas.

Employability skills
A focus on future employability is at the heart of our programmes - we work closely with employers, professional bodies and other organisations to ensure programme content keeps abreast of the latest industry and sector needs and that our graduates are well equipped for the challenges of the global marketplace. In many instances, our courses are accredited by the leading sector or professional bodies.

We also work with some of the top businesses and organisations in the UK and around the world in collaborative partnerships. We have a reputation for applying our research in real-world situations, to help develop innovative solutions and technologies that have real impact.

Our ground-breaking research covers a wide range of disciplines – read about some of our most eminent researchers:

Professor Caroline Watkins is head of UCLan’s nurse-led stroke research unit - the only one of its kind in the UK – and advisor to the Department of Health. She has recently been made a Fellow of the European Stroke Organisation, for the decade of ground-breaking research she has undertaken at UCLan.

Professor Richard Taylor, a qualified barrister and winner of the Society of Legal Scholars prize for best conference paper, heads up UCLan’s criminal law academic team and is author of a leading criminal law text used in high court decision-making.

Dr Roger Clowes is a member of our world-renowned astrophysics team. Working as part of a team of international astronomers, Dr Clowes recently discovered the largest structure in the Universe, a cluster of young galaxies stretching four billion light years across.
